RDC President 2019-2020, Greg Woodhead

While Rotary China is working to make things clearer and easier at a national level, we must continue to do what we can, where we can. And that, as many of you already know, is the theme for the year. We will do what we can, where we can, and we will be proud of it!
— Greg Woodhead, President Rotary Club of Dalian 2019-2020

A message from president, Mr. Greg Woodhead:

Dear fellow Rotarians and Guests,

Welcome to the website for the Rotary Club of Dalian, located in Liaoning Province, China. I invite you to take a look at what our club is accomplishing in Northern China and see how you can join or help us in our work.

Since receiving our charter on December 18th 2015, our club now enters its fourth year of fellowship and service in Dalian.  We are a club which comes together to celebrate both the things we have in common as well as those which make us different.  It is with great pride that I am being given the privilege to support the members of this club for the next year.  We are a diverse group, with different backgrounds and from many different countries.  We will not always see the world the same way, but it is in those differences that we are strongest, when we work together, we are at our best.

Certainly, here in China, and more importantly for us in Dalian, it is not the easiest environment for a Rotary club to operate and thrive.  Even doing the smallest or simplest of works can require herculean efforts.  We should take pride in every accomplishment, every achievement.  We need to be thankful for what we can do, and not dwell on the things we cannot.

While Rotary China is working to make things clearer and easier at a national level, we must continue to do what we can, where we can.  And that, as many of you already know, is the theme for the year.  We will do what we can, where we can, and we will be proud of it!

I know that we have many enthusiastic members, some with many Rotary years under their belt and some, like me, who are new to this.  We are all driven by the common desire to make a difference in our community; to come here not just as “laowai” who take from China, but also give something back.  To make a difference.  And I hope that even small things can make a big difference to the lives of those we work with.

While we work to make that difference, it is important that we have fun together and celebrate what we can achieve.  We are always looking for like-minded people who want to make great friendships while also making an impact wherever we go.

On this website I invite you to take a look at the work that we do, and for more information about our club and how you can join us.

As always, we look forward to seeing you at Rotary!
