About ROTARY Club of Dalian

Rotary Club of Dalian was chartered December 18th, 2015 becoming the 8th officially recognized club in mainland China. A group of foreign citizens representing 19 different nationalities, truly fulfilling Rotary's motto:

"We are neighbours, community leaders and global citizens uniting for the common good"

The importance of being the 8th recognized club in China comes from Chinese tradition where certain numbers are believed to be auspicious based on the Chinese word that the number´s name sounds similar to. The word for eight (pinyin: bā) sounds similar to the word which means “prosper” or “wealth” and when used alone or paired with numerous other compound words they have a meaning of luck or success.
